Join Mrs. H for the second instalment of her Introduction to Martial Arts series. Martial arts is a form of Asian self-defence or combat that utilizes physical skill and coordination without weapons, such as Taekwondo, Aikido, Judo, or Karate, often practiced as sport. Each week, Mrs. H builds on the skills taught in the previous sessions.

Make physical activity fun with this movement challenge. Examples of movement activities include star jumps, tuck jumps, frog jumps, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, summersaults, cartwheels, squats, lunges, push-ups, high knees, butt kickers, plank, air punches, squat jumps, high kicks, tree pose, donkey kicks, crab walks, burpees, bear crawls, etc. Use activities from our list for get creative and come up with your own. Some of our after-school favourites include skater jumps, 180 or 360 jumps, fast feet, jump shots, crab walks, inch worms, mountain climbers, etc. Try our favourites or make your own. Send us a picture of your creative side for a chance to win a large playing die.
Meet Mrs Hammer-Jackson. She has a fourth degree black belt in Taekwondo, in Pyongwon. Each week, Mrs. H will review the skills previously taught and introduce a variety of new skills and challenges. We hope you enjoy! If you have any feedback, we would love to hear it! |
